Most people paying for their own plant, civil or safety ticket can claim part of it back through the Construction Training Fund (CTF). Employer invoicing, apprenticeship incentives and recognition of prior learning are the other routes. Call us and we will tell you which one fits your unique circumstances.
The Construction Training Fund is a Western Australian body that collects a levy on construction work and puts the money back into training the industry. It supports short course training for people working in construction in WA.
At Operate WA Training, CTF funding is available as a student reimbursement. You book and pay for the course, complete it, then claim the rebate back from CTF yourself using your paid invoice and Statement of Attainment.
Three steps from enquiry to rebate. We handle the pricing and the paperwork on our side, and you lodge the claim yourself once the course is complete.
Tell us the ticket you need and what you do for work. We confirm the price and flag which funding routes are worth checking for you.
Attend, get assessed, and we issue your Statement of Attainment and paid invoice.
Lodge your claim with CTF within twelve months of finishing. Everything the claim asks for is already in your hands.
Funding rules change, sometimes mid year, and eligibility is decided by the funding body rather than by us. Nothing on this page is a promise that a subsidy will apply to you.
Four more routes worth checking before you pay for anything yourself. Tell us which ones might apply and we will look at them with you.
Your employer can be invoiced directly, including for a whole crew. Many employers already budget for tickets and simply need someone to ask.
Apprenticeships and traineeships sit under their own arrangements, and separate incentives can apply to the employer. Worth raising with them before you pay for anything yourself.
If you have run the machine for years without the ticket, RPL may reduce the training down to an assessment. It does not apply to everything, so ask.
Units you already hold are credited towards a qualification made up of those units. You do not pay twice for the same unit.
Generally yes. The fund is built from a levy on WA construction work and it exists to train that industry, so civil, building and related trades are the intended audience. The fund publishes its own eligibility criteria, and that is the version that counts.
You do. CTF funding runs as a reimbursement to the student, so you pay for the course up front and lodge the claim with the fund yourself once you have been assessed as competent. Claims need to go in within twelve months of finishing the course. We give you the paid invoice and the Statement of Attainment the claim asks for.
Nothing comes off at booking, because it is a rebate rather than a discount. CTF sets the rates and publishes them. At the time of writing the rebate covers up to 70% of the course fee, capped at $1,300 per course in the metropolitan area and $1,700 per course regionally, and claims must be lodged within twelve months of finishing. Rates, caps and eligibility can change, so check the current figures yourself on the CTF website before you count on them. What we give you is the full course price, so you know the number you are working back from.
Heavy vehicle licensing generally sits outside construction funding, because it is a licence rather than a construction ticket. Employer funding and group rates still apply. If you are a mature age worker changing careers, BUSY At Work is a Commonwealth contracted provider that can help you find grants, subsidies and apprenticeship pathways, including into transport. Ask us and we will be straight with you about what is realistic.
Yes. We invoice businesses directly for individual and group bookings, and we can supply copies of every Statement of Attainment for the compliance file.
Then you pay the listed price, which we will have told you upfront. No surprise on the invoice and no pressure either way.
Complete the enquiry form and the Operate WA Training team will be in touch shortly with your options, the next available dates and the exact cost. Need a fast response? Call us directly, we answer six days a week.
